For those who think a picture says a thousand words and those who need a thousand words to get the picture, Sketch the Rhyme is back at Newtown Hotel on Thursday 11th July with another epic show.
Fresh from their highly praised gig at Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Sketch the Rhyme crew return with their part Pictionary, part party performance that melds artists and rappers in a series of high-speed playoffs.
Watch live on the big screens as the artist’s sketch up pictures relevant to a theme, topic or clue. Then prepare for some of Australia’s hottest MC’s to freestyle their responses whether that means improvising a story, guessing the catch-phrase or identifying a celebrity drawn before them.
Audience participation is not only encouraged, it’s required. Cheer loudly to let the rappers know they’ve won and watch tensions build between artist and MC as they battle for supremacy. In a war of both words and pictures, which will win on the night is entirely up to the audience.
Joining founder of Sketch the Rhyme, Joel Rapaport (Big Village, Loose Change) will be local Aussie heroes Jeswon (Thundamenatals) P. Smurf (Daily Meds) and a host of artists in what will be a fantastic night of live art, Aussie hip hop and interactive entertainment that Mr Squiggle would be proud of.
We have some kick ass drink specials on offer also including $4 beers and $5 vodkas right up until 9pm.
The event is free and kicks off at 7pm on Thursday 11th July.
