***Cooking With Caustic***
The Blue Mountains have produced an impressive array of musical talent over the years, and 2014 is set to be a great year for 10 piece collective Cooking with Caustic. With a fresh and dynamic take on soul, funk and hip hop, the band blends intricate, mood-driven instrumentals alongside tracks which showcase a variety of guest vocalists and MCs.
Their upcoming album features an outstanding collection of guest vocalists; including respected Sydney hip hop artists P.smurf, Mikoen and Mute MC from Daily Meds and Reverse Polarities, Madame Wu, Tenth Dan, Loose Wayne and Broken Thought Theory. Evan Jones from soul duo Jones Jnr makes an appearance, along with the smoky jazz tones of Charlotte Craib. At the heart of the band’s vocal line up lie the diverse and soulful voices of Queen B and Blackjack Davey.
The band recently released the first single from their album ‘Natural Selection’, along with an extraordinary Godzilla-esque stop-motion film clip made by photographer Pat Bowden.
Cooking with Caustic have produced music for Thundamentals, Tuka, Madame Wu and Two Toes. They have also had two tracks chosen to appear on Sydney’s iconic Free the Beats series, and have done remixes for Daily Meds, Thundamentals and NZ band Sola Rosa.

Armed with a sick sense of beatmaking and a soft-focus throwback vibe, Sydney's Waza has distilled starry-eyed nostalgia with hip hop sensibility in his debut mixtape, Love is a Battlefield. A showcase of romance and Waza's keen sense of multi-instrumentalism, the mixtape weaves together soaring whimsical strings and glittering vocal samples, all held together by the dreamy infectious beat. It's the sonic incarnation of amour and beating hearts, a mix of tricky production and intrigue. The mixtape earned serious love from tastemakers and audiences alike, garnering five starts from hhhappy, an ‘A-Class’ from Little Boom Music and Fenella Kernebone calling it ‘a little romantic nostalgia wrapped up in a great package of beats’. The mixtape also graced the nation’s airwaves, getting spins on triple j, and being added to rotation on triple j Unearthed and 2SER.

Warren Abela aka Waza is a Sydney based beatmaker, producing a fusion of hip hop, jazz and rock instrumentals. Starting out as bass player at the age of 13, inspired by the nineties movement, Warren grew into a multi-instrumentalist picking up the guitar, piano, drums, synthesizer, the turntable & various samplers. For over 10 years, he has been experimenting with a diverse range of sounds in his home studio. Waza has also been very active in live music scene across Australia over the past 15 years performing at the annual Australian music festivals & multiple national tours. His 2011 remix of House of Pain classic hit “Jump Around” was selected by the band to open their Australian shows around the country.

Waza’s mixtape Love is a Battlefield is the result of years of hard work honing his craft, culminating into an enchanting seven-track EP.
