  • Oxford Hotel 134 Oxford Street Darlinghurst Australia

Techno. Techno. Techno.

Right off the back of Voices from the Lake, Strange Signals is proud to bring you live, and for the first time in Australia, France's blurry, illusive techno entity - Polar Inertia, deep down in the underground basement of the Oxford Hotel.

POLAR INERTIA (live)

One of the most acclaimed techno artists to emerge from the underground in the past few years, each record released on on French cult label Dement3d has become an instant classic, highly sought after by fan and critic alike.

Inspired by an anticipated post-apocalyptic future, Polar Inertia formed their enigmatic techno act in 2010. They swiftly pointed themselves in the direction of an extremely contrasted music, at once heavy and delicate. Acting like a whiteout, they have built up a fog that surrounds the nature of their activities. And foggy the music is. Dense, impenetrable techno with a hypnotic, psychedelic quality that is the hallmark of some of Strange Signals’ favourite artists.

The artists of Polar Inertia operates in the shadows, hiding behind on unseasonable music, behind the enigmatic words of the confused narrator, behind mysterious films and disturbing photo graphic documents not unlike contemporaries Rrose and Sandwell District.

Dancefloor oriented immense sensual techno. You will lose your mind, guaranteed

ASGER JORN (live)

Asger Jorn returns to Strange Signals, bringing his analog meets digital breed of live techno to our house for the second time. A new live setup, and a new live set, and two more years of slaying Sydney dancefloors, expect a musical feast, swampy, misty techno steeped in a dub aesthetic with a persistent dancefloor groove. Every time we’ve seen him out, he’s been better than the last. Expect this form to continue.

XXX

Sydney techno stalwart, part of both Trench and Dark Energy crews, XXX will lay down jacked up beats, monstrous basslines and brainy rhythms slammed down with the irreverence of the Detroit masters, yet with the touch of a deft sculptor

Jōetsu

Debut Sydney performance for this dj duo. Synthetic-organic psychic cleansing via dancing. Deep. Dark. Weird. Acute. Obtuse. Stay a while. Stay forever.
