WHAT IS INNERSOUL LIVE @ PLAY BAR ALL ABOUT?
Innersoul Live is an exclusively secured event space for people in the Entertainment Industry to come in, enjoy, relax, and most of all appreciate good music.
Our entertainer’s are carefully selected to cater for the strict genres of music we are going to be performing. Only giving gratitude and thanks to the origins and classics of our times, with everything from Aretha Franklin to Jodeci, Jill Scott to Marvin Gaye and J Dilla to John Legend, without forgetting such classics as Bob Marley to RUN DMC.
Our aim is to take you way back to the sweet sound of soul, incorporating that with the funky sound of reggae and transitioning to the best beats of Rhythm and Blues, at a venue that is engulfed with the atmosphere and culture that urban music today, in Australia, has been aching for.
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE…
Unlike our competition in the industry, our unique purpose will not only be to support a newly flourishing culture, but to also play a key role in it’s development and evolution.
We wish to provide the urban music community, here in Sydney, with a venue and event that will provide a platform for all members of this culture to meet, greet and showcase the love they have for the art.
From Live performances on a bi-weekly basis from Sydney’s raw unseen talent, collaboration events, bringing the arts, such as photography & street art (Graffiti) together as well as Web designers, publicists, managers, musicians, producers and all industry heads, bringing forth our own family of dynamic individuals into the one space simply for the unconditional love we all have for our Roots and what we see is possible for our future.
So come down and lets celebrate for the past, for the present and for all that’s to come in our future’s.
Scott Teu is a phenomenal vocalist hailing from Sydney, and of Tongan background.
He was born and raised singing in the church. And no wonder when you hear his vocal and delivery inflicted with similarities of Gospel singers and the likes of Lauryn Hill and Stevie Wonder. He mentions Lauryn Hill’s debut album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” as the album that made him want to sing.
Christian is no stranger to music, he has been singing since his youth and grew up listening to the likes of Prince, Maxwell and Stevie wonder to mention a few.
His father was a musician in a soul band called Brother Milk. He has been singing as a regular in the Sydney scene for the last couple of years and has performed at landmark venues such as the Basement and Blue Beat.
Christian has just come off the rd with Prinnie Stevens and Mahalia Barnes doing backing vocals for their soul shows nationwide. As well as this he has been relentlessly performing around the eastcoast with his outfit the Christian Hemara Band. He is definitely a singer to keep and ear out for, his vocals will captivate anyone who comes across them.
NUSU is fronted by the voice of Amy Iheakanwa – Who brings a unique blend of Poetry, Rap and Melody.
Jasper is a multi-instrumentalist who lends his vocals gracefully for a perfect blend of harmony alongside singer songstress Jess Ankomah – the three of them form NUSU. And deliver a soulful original sound that has been no stranger to the Sydney scene in the last 12 months. Youthful, Beautiful and Soulful. NUSU.
‘A Muso’s Muso.’… Australian Singer, Songwriter and Multi-Instrumentalist, Michael Duchesne, is soon to be a powerful force in the music Industry. He’s equipped with a voice well beyond his years and has a presence to match.
Hailing from Sydney, at the youthful age of just 21, Michael has already honed his craft as a singer and guitarist to a fine edge, performing at some of Sydney’s top live venues alongside some of Australia’s best. In 2012, Michael was a featured artist and made the Top 24 on Australia’s hit TV show, ‘The Voice’.
Duchesne (pronounced ‘Du-Shane’) has performed as a solo act along Australia’s east coast and also works closely with Sydney Soul / R&B band, Ebony & Ivory.
After opening for American artist Eric Benét on his Australian tour in October 2011, Duchesne was approached by the Executive Music Director for ‘The Voice Australia’, Louise Perryman, and featured on the show in 2012. He made the final 24 under the mentorship of ‘Coach Seal’. His final performance – The Beatles’ classic ‘Got To Get You Into My Life’ – was broadcast Live to over two million people.
Michael sums up his experience on The Voice this way: “The Voice was a great experience, providing a real insight into the industry in which I aim to build my career. Filling the hours of waiting to perform by jamming with crazy, talented artists behind the scenes and then performing while backed by some of Australia’s very best musicians was awesome.
“And working with Seal? He’s a big man with an intense passion for music. He wanted to squeeze the best out of me. I’m incredibly grateful to have worked with him and for the opportunity to get my face and voice into the living rooms of millions of Australians.”
Besides live performances with renowned Soul and R&B bands like Brown Sugar and Ebony & Ivory, Michael gets his biggest kick out of songwriting and production. He’s already written over 60 original songs with a feel like… well, think Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway. Think John Mayer, John Legend & India Arie. Think Earth Wind & Fire and Brian McKnight.
Think Michael Duchesne!
