Turntable Set-Up Instructions

We strongly recommend that you keep the packaging until everything is set up and working correctly, and read the instructions - it’s worth the time :) But here are some hot tips to get you started.

For a Belt Drive

  • The belt is on the underside the of the platter, on the outside of the inner ring

  • Pull the belt over the gold motor spindle (top left), through the large hole in the platter

For an Adjustable Tone-arm

  • Attach the tone arm weight (on a new deck find this in the side of the foam packaging)

  • Attach the headshell assemble (also in the side of the foam packagin)

  • Adjust/twist the weight until it balances with the headshell assembly (until the needle is floating/hovering)

  • Set the dial on the front of the weight to zero (do not spin the weight when you do)

  • Together set the weight & dial to between 1.5 - 2.0g for home hifi and up to 3-4g for DJ. This is the tracking force. Your aim here is to have the needle heavy enough to sit in the groove without bouncing around, but as light as possible.

  • GENERALLY set the number of your anti-skating to match number on the weight, unless you have an Audio-Technica LP120, in wihch case set the weight to 2.5 and the anti-skating to 1.8.

  • For old Technics 1200/1210, set the anti-skating wheel to max, your spring has definitely weakened.
